Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to be a member of the site?
Both artist and listener accounts are totally free. The affiliated labels are asked to occasionally donate to the site, but it is not a requirement.
How long does it take before my account is active?
If you signed up for a listener account, it’s active right away. Otherwise, it may take up to 24 hours for your artist or label account to be approved, and your status upgraded so you may begin editing a page.
How do I log in to the site?
In the top left corner of the site there is a link to log in. Your username and password are sent in the first email you should have received after signing up for your account. If you can’t find the email, make sure to check your spam folder, and add us as a contact so you don’t miss out on important information.
How do I change my password?
After logging in, there’s a “profile” link towards the top right of the screen. Click there, and about halfway down the page is the section to change your password. Then scroll to the bottom and click the “Update” button.
What if I forget my password?
Click the log in link, and you’ll see a “forgot password” link. If you click there a new password will be sent to the email address you signed up with. (Or the current one on file if you changed your email settings)
How do I edit my music page?
Assuming you have received confirmation that your artist account has been set up, you first log in to the site. There’s a big button that says “View Your Page”. Click there, and at the bottom you should see an edit button. There’s a visual editor, and also an html editor so you can add embed codes for videos, flash photo galleries, etc… Also if you notice on top there’s an “Add media” section. The first square box is for uploading pictures. Once you upload, you can “insert into post” to put it on your page.
How do I delete a song from my playlist?
After logging in to the site, click the “Update Music Player” button near the top left. From there, at the bottom of the song there is a button to delete it from your playlist.
How do I add a free download button, or a purchase link button to my player?
After logging in to the site, click the “Update Music Player” button near the top left. Under each song it will tell you if you have a download or purchase link, and give you the option to add or remove it.
What are tags?
Tags are descriptions of your style, to get you listed in the different genre categories on the site. They also can include your name, where your from, and any other data that could help people find your page using searches.
What is the “All in one SEO Pack”?
This is a plug-in that helps you maximize your search engine rankings, so people can find your page in the search engines. Also, you can edit the title at the top of your page to say what you want. The description part is what will show up if someone sees your page in a search engine listing. Some useful advice is to use some of the same words in the title, description, and keywords sections, as this will help you rank higher with Google and other search engines.
How do I upload music?
Just added a new button in the main admin screen where you can click to upload your song, along with the url for the song’s picture. It’ll immediately update your player, since we don’t add any extra data compression to the file.
How long does it take for my songs to get updated on the player?
If you use the upload button in the main admin screen, the player updates immediately upon upload. You may have to clear your cache in order to see the changes, though.
How do I change the order of the songs on my player?
After logging in, in the main admin area there’s a button that says “Update Music Player”. Click that button and it’ll show all the tracks on your player, and there’s a “Move UP” button next to each one (except the first of course). Click the “Move Up” button, and it will move it up one position on your player. You can do this as many times as necessary to get the order the way you want it.
Why isn’t the image showing up on my player for one or all of my songs?
The image URL must be a direct link to the image, and it must be in JPEG(.jpg) format. If there’s a question mark somewhere in the URL, it’s not a direct link. To fix this, either upload the picture on our site using the image uploader that’s in the “edit post” screen and copy the “permalink”, or find the picture wherever it’s stored and right click it. You should have an option that says “Copy Image Location”. Then all you have to do is paste (Control V) the correct url in the “Update Music Player” screen, and click “Change Picture”.
Is there a limit to the number of songs I can upload?
No. You can have 100 songs on your player if you like. Just remember that when trying to get exposure it’s always best to post quality over quantity. If you have 100 great songs though, upload away!
Do I need a separate log in for the forums?
Yes, the forums have separate log in information, but are also free to sign up.
What if I have a question that I still can’t find the answer to?
