“We hear the radio, but not like other people. We pick up on the chord progressions, wonder which effect was used on a guitar or synth, and how we could recreate that effect and somehow make it our own. We hear songs in our heads even when we haven’t heard music in a long time. The worst part is sometimes the songs we hear in our head don’t even exist- yet. We hear entire compositions we’ve yet to transcribe.
When we go out to see a live band or Dj, we observe what’s going on in a different perspective than the average attendee. We pick up on any imperfection- a sour note, a beat hitting out of sync with the music, poorly mixed sound, etc… But we know what it is like to be on stage. We know what it is like to have magic happen in front of a crowd. We also know the crushing feeling when we fail to live up to our own expectations.
To the average person, music is our hobby. We work jobs during the day, and are forced to keep our “hobby” for the nights and weekends. To us, though, music is more than a hobby. Music is life, the air we breathe. We live for band practice, studio time, gigging, tours. We dream for the time when music can become our occupation. We are those who Want Signed.”
