About Fly Avenue

We are two former teenage friends, originally from Puerto Rico, who happened to coincidentally meet up in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 2008. Ram, the guitarist, has over 15 years of experience and played 8 years with international hard rock recording artist “Slimy Nuggetz” and previously expanded his musical vocabulary by playing for 3 years with Jazz-Funk Fusion trio “Supra Orbital Groove” as well as gaining vocal experience with Delft, Netherlands based band “Dear Watson”. Jose, the drummer, has over 8 years of experience playing with different acts in his home country as well as being a founding member and drummer of “Dear Watson” which respectively came in 2nd place during their preliminary performance of the national “Discoverme Live” musical competitions in Amsterdam.

We started this project a while ago but have had difficulties finding other musicians in the Amsterdam area. For this reason we recorded 3 songs with the help of our friend Frank (Student at SAE). The first 2 songs have been uploaded here already with the purpose of showing other musicians what our style and influences are in order to attract similar like-minded artists who want to achieve success in the music industry.

We are currently looking for a bassist and a singer to start playing live performances (Ram did the singing on this demo and a friend from the conservatory of Amsterdam, Berni aka “Capitan Chorizo”; aka “Don Chorizone”, played the bass). If you have any interest in playing with us drop us a private message to set up an audition.

At the moment there are 8 songs written, 5 of which are in need of lyrics and bass lines (creative input is welcomed in the band). Also, if you just like our music let us know as well; it’s always nice to hear it. Cheers! P.S. The final song in the demo is coming soon!

Hailing from the small town of Bourne (Massachusetts), Tyler Sanford is a Modern Rock artist/singer-songwriter who incorporates rather serious plots into his songs. Though his main specialty concerns story songs involving mostly fictional characters, his also touches on such topics as love, betrayal, war, and one of his songs even revolves around racism. He has just released a new album known as Nothing To Fear, featuring some power-driven rock songs backed by some heart-felt ballads. Nothing To Fear is the next step in Tyler Sanford’s songwriting career, and you can tell just listening to the album. The style of music demonstrated is a lot more intense than usual, and the vocals are stronger than ever. Some of the songs featured on this compilation are Only The Strong Survive (an in your face rock song with a nice melodic hook), It Couldn’t Happen To You (a deeply touching story song, which is what Tyler does best), and the title track itself, Nothing To Fear.

About Kevin On A Bike

Well Kevin? KOAB were formed in 2006, really kicking off in 2007. Having undergone some changes we are now a four piece. We play Rock, that’s about as much generalizing as can be done. Behind KOAB there are a vast amount of influences. Glenn listens to almost every Genre imaginable, hence writes a broad range of lyrics. his favourite lyricists include Dave McPherson (InMe), Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) and Chris Daughtry. He is also a huge fan of Phil Lynnott. Obvious influences belonging to drummer Daragh are Lars Ulrich of Metallica and other heavy bands such as Slayer and Pantera. Liam follows a similar interest whilst Colin is quite broad too, being a fan of Metallica but also A7X, Arctic Monkeys and Van Halen.

Who is Kevin? He is a college student with the inability to ride a bike. This in the past has led to comical circumstances but he has since gone into hiding due to severe shame. We wish him all the best in his quest for stabilizers. In light of this, we will continue to play our music in his name and, his misfortune. We are working hard at the minute to get to our best so that one day we may have an unlimited supply of Boobs. Because it is scientifically proven that Boobs are the key to happiness.

It is not being up in the lights. It’s about being heard and making some noise.

Our Story

Most bands of today seem boring and depressing, as if their puppies were run over. Johnny 9 and the Racers is different; playing live shows filled with enough energy to convert the saddest of concert goers into fans. By word of mouth and constant self-promotion, one of the hardest working bands in Connecticut has managed to get air play on college and corporate radio. In summer of 2006, the band also pushed their way into the national “Bodog Battle of the Bands.” Because of the overwhelmingly good response by voters on the Bodog website, the band was invited to play the semifinals in New York City. With all the shows and attention they have been receiving in the passed few months, many are blown away to find out the band is achieving all this themselves.

They have developed a strong following of dedicated fans by mixing the upbeat ska rhythms of The Specials and the pop/punk edge of The Descendents with catchy pop hooks in the vein of Elvis Costello. The band released their Easier Said Than Done EP which sold over 100 copies in its first week from show and mail order sales alone, as well as scoring a substantial amount of radio play on dozens of East Coast college radio stations. The music/interactive web CD titled Underground Sounds soon followed in 2006. The CD’s limited pressing quickly sold out after just two shows.

Johnny 9 and the Racers has played with numerous local and nationally touring acts all around the state. Fans of all musical tastes are won over by the band’s charisma and energy on stage, so much so in fact that they were voted by TopsInAmerica.com as one of the “Top 10 bands to see Live in Connecticut.” There’s not a night that you won’t see the band giving their absolute all for an audience of any size.

In 2006, the band stepped into the studio to record their first full length album titled Open Up Your Ears. The eight hour days of nonstop work produced 8 songs of high energy ska/rock/pop. In regards to the new CD, CTSka.com stated, “Johnny 9 and the Racers’ newest release, Open Up Your Ears, is sure to turn plenty of heads as it has already turned mine. With excellent musicality, professional recording quality, and an energy exclusively J9, I can’t see them not making a huge splash with this 8-track creation.” The album is selling exceptionally well, after only a few months the album is already on its second pressing. Songs from the album have been played on corporate radio (a hard task for a young band that manages and promotes themselves) and the college stations can’t seem to get enough of it.

Johnny 9 and the Racers are currently finishing up the mixing and mastering of their newest full length cd recorded in January 2008. Within the next few months Johnny 9 and the Racers will be working with artist George Sellas, who had done previous artwork on “Open Up Your Ears”. A CD Release Show date will also be announced!

4:29 am…….Southern California…..Monday morning…..January…… Out on the East Coast, people are preparing for the new day and the week ahead…..shoveling out from the cold and snow that has made them wonder why they ever chose to live there in the first place. Out on the West Coast, people are blissfully asleep…..warm, peaceful, oblivious………two minutes later, there is glass breaking, children screaming, walls moving, bridges falling, buildings collapsing, and the earth is moaning…..screaming…..angry…..intense…..violent…..deadly. Somthing dark swallows Eden and then immediately spits it back out. Paradise is transformed and turns to Hell in less than 30 seconds. Nothing will ever be the same…..but then again, nothing ever is.

Floods, fires, riots, earthquakes, unrest….Southern California in the early 90s….a time of change, upheaval, chaotic energy, and new direction. And amidst the fire, smoke, rubble, and ash, a tiny spark is ignited. Two families move to the high desert north of L.A. and unwittingly become not only Neighbors, but friends. They are destined to remain “Neighbors” even as they move 400, and then 2,000 miles away.

The nucleolus of Acidmyers, a Bass player and a guitar player, begin to “jam”. Their influences are already more than 2,000 miles apart: Blues, Jazz, and Pop, compared to Heavy Metal and Hard Rock. One was Red and the other Blue. Alone, they were destined to create one dimensional works that were either completey red or completely blue. However, together, they were able to mix and create other alchemistic shades and colors. And every so often, they were able to magically create yellow, and were thereby armed with a complete rainbow by which they could create art that resonated simply in that moment.

It was an exercise in creativity……beats and rhythms, chords and individual notes, melodies and harmonies…….inspired by the moment, and then immediately swallowed by the next. Songs that were brazen, lithe, and free, but would float aimlessly, and then vanish in the dry, vast, California night air…………..or perhaps linger in that space indefinitely, like friendly ghosts waiting to touch future friends, families, and generations and wrap them in enchanted, warm surprise, sprung from the essence that made those notes sing and echo when they were originally created.

Used to scream and play loud obnoxious and incredibly fun punk rock in a band. We toured and did our thing. Then I started Djing and producing EDM, and I put down the guitar for too damn long. Just recently bought an acoustic (the last one was sold for drugs years ago), so I thought I’d record some songs, maybe even write some?

Xeroform- *noun* a sterile pad or other form of gauze that is used as a medical dressing. It can also be medicated already. For putting over wounds. It can be used for a lot of things. It is a vaseline and antibiotic soaked gauze that is usually used on things like chest tubes, new circumcisions and other open flesh wounds.

Xeroform- *noun* an artist lacking the confines of any specific genre, also lacking in song form and arc. Someone heavily influenced by a Boss BR-864 and years of wasted time.
